Congrats on winning Grand Champion at Sun n Fun!
Hi Tom, I couldn't believe I would ever see that XP82 fly again. I first seen it in Walter Soplata's field of airplanes. It was a year after I got my ticket,(1965),that I visited Walter's place in Newbury, Ohio. I lived about 15 minutes North of there in Chardon, Ohio. The 82 I saw was hacked in half right behind the canopy, and screwed together with a splice of sheet aluminum!Over the years I would stop to see what he dragged in. One afternoon that I was there, I seen Walter under his house, trying to start a jet engine. He had it tied to his support column. I surely thought he would either pull the house down, or burn the place down! At that time, he wouldn't sell a single piece of aluminum! He had some interesting planes, and a lot of scrap aluminum. I didn't know what would happen to all the stuff he had. I remember his kids, taxiing and old BT13, without wings, all over the property! They parked it on the lawn, in front of the house. I'm happy to see the old bird in the air again, it's been a long time. Bob U
