  1. Hello All,
I found out about this website just 3 days ago and now just caught up with current events. Holy cow! This is an amazing feet you are endeavouring and with such a small crew and hangar space. I will deinitely be watching for the monthly updates on this project. I am also watching another WWII warbird in Reading, Pa being restored to flying conditon as well.
Thanks for posting these great pictures and descriptions, I was 'riveted'!! (Pun intended!)

I have been in the Air Force Reserves for just about 30 years. Worked on cargo planes and tankers for 16 years and severals years behind a desk working with maintenance folk. Even though I was a crewchief during most of it, and then aero repair shop for a wee bit, I have immense repsect for those who keep 'em flying, restore, preserve for the future! Please keep this website going and up to date with the latest news, it's fantastic! Just think, you found thee XP-82 Twin Mustang in someones backyard... Unbelieveable!!

Best regards and now a fan,
    Dan Deitz

  2. Like Dan above, I had no idea this amazing project was underway until about a week ago. The P-82 has fascinated me since I knew of its existence, and your aircraft is possibly the most desireable one ever built. Merlin-powered, with two complete flying cockpits. I hold an A&P and EASA B-1 licenses, and have worked in aircraft maintenance since 1982. Your monthly newsletters make riveting reading, and I have read up to late 2011. I thank you for sharing in such detail... I have about a thousand questions in my head. I live in Germany, been here since the USAF sent me here in 85. Otherwise I would be knocking on your door looking for work.
I wish you continued good luck on the project, and will pursue your progress with greatest of interest, marveling at the workmanship and knowledge of your exemplary team.

All the best from one of your newest fans!
    Sean Lawler

  5. How much of the completed airplane will have been part of the original plane? How close would the plane restoration world be to building one from scratch?
I’ve been interested in the 82, since one taxied up to the hanger in front of me in Harlingen TX. Keep up the Great work.

  6. 75-80% of the main structure is original. All of the exterior skins are new. If one were to reconstruct a P-82 from scratch, you would have nothing more than a homebuilt. There is nothing wrong with homebuilts, but they would not have the historical value of an original aircraft.
    Thanks.

  7. Brent Here....thanks for the kind words on the hot rod business. It sure helps when reproducing and hunting P-40 parts. Your impending completion of the -82 project will be another fitting milestone in an exceptional career restoring warbirds. Glad I could help with a few small p[arts, I know Dick Odgers would have wanted them to find a good home with you. I will save the 2 damaged props so your volunteer from the Airmotive days can have a nifty souvenir.

  8. Hello
My father Navy Lt. (jg) Victor B Tkac & Lt (jg) Joseph Anderson were the Project Engineers fir the XP-82. They worked in the wind tunnels at Moffet Field , Ca from 1944-46. I am sure you have googled the declassified NASA (NACA) report. These men would be so proud of your wonderful commitment!! Thank you Jeff Tkac

  10. I have a friend who is a stunt pilot in Atlanta, Ga. I told him about your work. He said there is another P82 being restored down there. Are you aware of this?

  12. Mr Reilly, I'm curious of the props you had manufactured. The place that did them, did they need a blank for them? There is a gentleman out west restoring a XP-51G that will need a wicked Rotol prop. Any help would be great, thx 👍
